Trainee Accountant - AAT

Job description: A position has become available in our Accounts department for a Trainee Accountant. The main job role entails the preparation of Limited Company, sole trader and partnership Financial Statements and Tax Returns for a portfolio of clients. Bookkeeping and VAT returns are also a key part of the candidate developments. The candidate will also prepare Income Tax Returns for individuals. Other ad hoc office duties will need to also be undertaken as and when required such as dealing with emails and client queries in an efficient manner.
Suitability: The role would suit a school leaver or college leaver who is currently studying the AAT qualification and has their mind set on becoming a qualified accountant in practice. We would allow the successful candidate to continue to study towards achieving their AAT qualification (and subsequently ACCA) and we will support this with study leave. Experience of using Microsoft Office suite is essential and experience of using bookkeeping software would be desired. You must be a good communicator and well organised to manage task lists and workloads in an efficient manner. Previous experience of working in an accountancy practice or an office environment would also be preferred but not essential. We will train the candidate in areas they have not encountered before.
Terms: Initial three-month trial period the successful completion of which will lead to a full time permanent contract and then subsequently a training contract, as appropriate. Total of 37.5 working hours per week
Salary: Commensurate with experience and regular reviews to reward performance.
Training: Full training is provided and study support towards the AAT qualification (and subsequently ACCA) is offered which includes the payment of study fees, revision materials, exam fees and paid study leave.
Location: 47 Calthorpe Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham, B15 1TH. Car parking may be available in work car park though road parking is nearby.
Hours of work: 8am to 4.20pm Monday to Thursday and 8am to 4.00pm on Friday.
